2018, 2019, 2020 Mustang experience ???

Beitrag von pkasmustang » 16. Nov 2019, 18:59

Hi everyone, hope it is ok posting this in English :-) I'm thinking about buying new 2020 Mustang GT 5,0 (10 speed auto) in Slovakia and would like to ask you - owners of 2018, 2019, 2020 models - about your experience with this car ??? I already wanted to place an order. ...but as I've started to read forums and watch youtube videos (including discussions below them), I am "shocked" that there are so many problems with engines...... it seems, that it is always just a question of time, when the engine tick appears...sooner or later.... I wanted to wait until first videos of 2020 models appear on youtube or discussions in forums, if this problem has been resolved. But it still seems to be there. First engine tick on 2020 model has already been reported.
I spoke to local Ford dealer here about it and of course, you can imagine what they said... allegedly they had no experience with this kind of problems in the past and were very surprised.... Mustang is beautiful car, I had a test drivw and it was absolutely amazing :Ford: . But I can't afford to waste my earned money for the car that is not reliable and where I should expect the engine failure after a while...I would very appreciate all your comments (2018,2019 and 2020 owners) about your own experiences with this car ??? All - positive or negative. It would help me a lot. Because usually people go to the forums when they have the problems and in this case it seems like that EVERYONE has a problem with this car, so many issues have been posted. Thank You all for your help :pony:

Hi there!
First of all, I dont drive a Mustang so far - i own a 2020 GT, but its still at the dealer waiting for the papers. Nevertheless did i read nearly all of the posts regarding that BBQ Tick (Itll be hard for you as its all in german ;) )
I had the same concerns you are experiencing right now. All in all you can summarize the tick topic as follows:
Generally Ford says that the tick isnt a fault or a deficit of the engine, its part of the new engine structure. You can believe so or not.
But what i got out of all that stuff (correct me people if i got it wrong) is, that even if you encounter that tick, it wont ruin your engine. It may disturb you, but it doesnt affect the reliability or the endurance lifetime of the engine.

The BBQ-tick is a problem of the pre face lift. I don't see any postings of a ticking within the 2018 and 2019 mustangs. We don't have any experiance with the 2020 because there is not one given to the owner.

We have had some problems with the 10 gear automatic, but this problems have been solved with the latest updates.
Viele Grüße

...
Sorry, but this statement is just wrong.
The BBQ-tick is a problem which came more to the public up face lift Gen 6 Mustang with the Ford Coyote Gen 3 V8 with 5.0 Liter (2018, 2019 and 2020).
The Mustangs before the Gen 6 face lift had it too but it was not so often or it wasn't discussed that much.

Just look here or all the US videos about it:
